8 Thrilling, Chilling Books for Halloween

I saw this interesting article about 8 scary books for Halloween in my Brightly newsletter. There are some classics but new ones as well. I have In A Dark, Dark Wood on my to-read list. Brightly is a newsletter I get from a required App for Lexi's school. It has good reading info for kids but also interesting (and funny) articles for adults.

  1. Yay for creepy books in October! I liked In a Dark, Dark Wood. I'm going to see if I can get a few of these to read before Halloween.

Two other suggestions: Bird Box and I Remember You. The latter was so engrossing and scared me so much that I nearly jumped out of my skin when Ken came up behind me while I was reading it--and I was sitting outside in the bright sun in the middle of the day. So good!!!

  2. Nice timing on your post, Andrea! I'm not sure I could handle a book (Broken Monsters) that scared Stephen King, but In a Dark, Dark Wood does sound good. Have you ever read (or seen) Coraline? Scared me so much--doesn't seem like a kids' book at all.

  3. I haven't been able to read a scary book since college when I read Misery. Can't do it, but to be fair I also avoid scary movies, trailers for scary movies (I mute or change the channel), and haunted houses. I blame a traumatic experience from 6th grade... a "crazy" at a haunted house put a chain saw to my leg, It didn't have a blade/chain, but it was on and boy did I flip out!!
